Netpak Ambalaj Chairman of the Board of Directors Ali Avcı said, “Netpak Ambalaj has been leading the industry for more than 40 years. "Working for a more livable world, Netpak Ambalaj contributes to the development of the green manufacturing industry in a way that supports sustainable economic development," he said.
Stating that they make a positive contribution to the development of Turkey's reusable carrier bag industry with their products and services, Netpak Ambalaj Chairman of the Board Ali Avcı said, “With its technology-oriented investments, Netpak Ambalaj leads the companies in the world that produce carrying bags suitable for green transformation with automation systems. Thanks to the ultrasonic welded automation systems it has developed, our company can produce bags quickly, at a standard and competitive cost, and ensures that the bags have a carrying capacity of approximately 10-15 kg. While offering quality products to its customers, it also attaches great importance to issues such as environmental sustainability. "With these features, Netpak Ambalaj keeps customer satisfaction at the highest level," he said.
“IT CONTRIBUTED TO THE GREEN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY”
Stating that Ultrapak Makina, which was established as the sister company of Netpak Ambalaj in 2017, has succeeded in producing the world's first ultrasonically welded nonwoven fabric carrying bag on a machine with an automation system, Avcı said, “The company continues its work as the R&D Center affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Technology. By investing in R&D, Ultrapak has realized many successful projects supported by TÜBİTAK and KOSGEB and contributed to the development of the green manufacturing industry in a way that supports sustainable economic development. The company constantly makes improvements in energy efficiency and also works with the aim of further reducing energy consumption through its R&D activities. "All the company's efforts are focused on increasing efficiency, minimizing energy consumption and reducing the use of raw material resources," he said.
“REINFORCES ITS LEADERSHIP POSITION”
Avcı said, “Netpak Ambalaj has prestigious awards such as the 'Crescent and Stars of Packaging' given by the Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD), the 'Asia Star' given by the Asian Packaging Federation (APF) and the World Star given by the World Packaging Organization (WPO). With the awards it has received, the company has become a well-known brand not only in Turkey but also in the international arena. In addition, it has received many awards such as ISO Environment and Energy Award, TOBB Fastest Growing 100, Stars of Export, Ministry of Science and Industry Efficiency Project Awards, TET Project Market Environmentalism Award. "Netpak Ambalaj, which was deemed worthy of an award in the Innovation Resources Category at the İNOVALİG Award ceremony held within the scope of Turkey Innovation Week in 2022, has reinforced its leading position in the sector," he said.
“WE ARE WORKING TO REDUCE THE CARBON FOOTPRINT”
Stating that they are constantly working to reduce their carbon footprint, Avcı said, “Within the scope of the Green Transformation Awards organized by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) in 2023, Ultrapak Machinery won the SME first prize in the field of energy efficiency. This award encourages other SMEs in the sector regarding energy efficiency and environmentally friendly practices. The company constantly works to optimize energy consumption and reduce its carbon footprint with its innovative technologies.
Netpak Ambalaj exports to more than 40 countries and works with almost all chain stores in the field of retail in the domestic market. The average export value with its value-added products is around 3.50-4.50 $/kg. Due to the increasing demand for environmentally friendly bags in the world, the company opened a second production facility in Istanbul Hadımköy in 2022 to increase its production capacity. "Thanks to this new investment, capacity utilization rates have reached 80-90 percent," he said.
“IT IS AIMED TO BE A WORLD LEADER”
Avcı also said: “Our company supports sustainable economic development as well as creating a clean environment with sustainable production. The success they have achieved so far has been achieved by investing a large portion of their income in R&D. The threat of environmental pollution is increasing in the world and this increases sensitivity to nature. The packaging industry is also making strategic changes by keeping up with this change. Netpak Ambalaj has adopted an environmentally friendly approach with the understanding of creating sustainable value. In order to turn these trends into opportunities, we evaluate marketing strategies and sector analyzes in a flexible structure and aim to make our country the world leader in the recyclable, reusable carrying bag sector.
“THE SECTOR SHOULD BE ENSURED TO DEVELOP IN THE COUNTRY”
Netpak Ambalaj leads its industry by following global trends in restricting single-use plastic bags and promoting environmentally friendly bags. Thanks to the importance and creativity it attaches to R&D studies, the company has reached a leading position in the sector and has developed 42 patents and 30 useful models to date, and draws attention with its technological innovations. In Turkey, the use of single-use plastic bags has been charged since 2019, but the desired reductions could not be achieved because the bag prices were not high enough. In order to encourage the use of environmentally friendly reusable products, we must raise awareness among consumers, increase bag prices, and support the companies that produce these products to ensure that the sector develops in our country.
It should be taken into consideration that there is no alternative to plastic yet and it is not possible to completely eliminate it from our lives. Therefore, it is important to use resources more economically and prevent environmental pollution through plastic recycling and reuse. The environmentally friendly approach will be a driving force for companies that create sustainable value, such as Netpak Ambalaj. It is thought that this sector is growing rapidly and that by encouraging it, it will provide high value-added exports in both machinery and products and reduce the current account deficit in the country.
