RECYCLING IN OUR COUNTRY
After using many materials like plastic, glass, paper, it is reused by chemical and physical processes.
When we look at the magnitude of the world's consumption, the negative effects of materials that are wasted and left in the environment, causing high damage to the environment, are emerging. When recyclable materials are recycled, it is possible to benefit both economically and environmentally. As an example of this: Can we contribute with our recycled clothes? It offers us a beautiful perspective.
The success of recycling in Turkey has helped me to be an environmentally friendly country all over the world, especially in the last years with significant ratios. Recycling projects that have been going on since 2001 have continued to increase exponentially with the amount of materials gained each year thanks to applications under waste recycling efforts. Even though it was about 15 years ago, it shows that 32 percent of the plastic, glass, paper, cardboard and metal wastes that were gained in our country in those years were recycled.
It was too high for those times; Italy and the UK have managed to keep it behind, but these studies are still continuing with more intense demand. The National Recycling Action Plan, which covers the period between 2013-2016, is one of Turkey's important and dedicated efforts in recycling.
With a budget of 5 billion euros in recovery, many private and government organizations continue to work in the sector. In the following years, the investment to be made in the recycling sector in our country is expected to increase by 7-9 billion euros.
The objectives of the Recycling Action Plan in our country are mainly as follows;
*By supporting R & D work on waste management and recycling technologies, it is possible to further support and disseminate such applications,
*KOSGEB's support for the recovery of KOBI’s,
*Collecting the sectoral information of the works done for recycling and recovery and making them into the data that can be used for institutions and organizations operating in this area,
*To keep the environmental legislation constantly audited and to activate the sector in which recycling efforts are carried out,
*To allocate necessary budget for recycling, waste management studies in public institutions and organizations,
*To develop incentive schemes for public waste collection with the support of local governments.
*In recent years, we have been working in schools, municipal buildings, streets, where we can find waste management in different colors, differently designed waste containers and containers can be recycled.
Collection of paper, glass, plastic and metal materials in different places, finding oil and battery boxes is the most real trace of the work carried out in the areas of recycling and waste management.
Apart from this, in the framework of the regulations that the state has established and obliged for the factories, serious applications and recycling studies on waste management have begun to be carried out.
What does recycling earn us?
The re-use of recyclable products, the energy used for new production, helps to reduce the harmful natural resources to a great extent. Contamination of wastes such as glass, metal, plastic, etc., does not only cause soil pollution but also air pollution and water pollution.
Statistically, the recycling advantages are as follows;
*1 ton of glass waste recycled, 100 liters of oil saved,
*If only half of the paper production in the world is recycled, every year 8 million hectares of forest protection,
*1 ton of cardboard-paper waste recycled, 17 wood cuts prevented,
*If 1 ton of tire waste is recycled, it is possible to save 95% energy.
Thanks to the fact that these advantages are both economically, environmentally, and in terms of development, Turkey can soon become a very good place in Europe thanks to the fact that it supports the progress of the recycling sector.
